For the past several months, teams from Porsche stores across the country have worked tirelessly to breathe new life into vintage vehicles as part of their participation in the 2022 Porsche Restoration Challenge.
For its part, Porsche Palm Springs accepted the task of restoring a 1982 Porsche 911 SC that had seen better days.
This “Champagne Metallic” classic had traveled from California to Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, and back again, and its mileage most certainly showed.
For Classic Manager Ken Arguelles and Classic Technician John Ghaemmaghami, it was no easy feat with many pitfalls along the way, including a broken axle and the transmission submerged in sludge. The project was so extensive it required the vehicle to be completely disassembled and then rebuilt from the ground up.
In the end, all of that hard work paid off as the finished product is a good-as-new Porsche ready to hit the road. Before it does though, it must face off against other born-again vintage vehicles at Monterey Car Week to determine which dealership performed best.
No matter the outcome, the 2022 Porsche Restoration Challenge was a journey well traveled.
