Porsche of Rancho Mirage 718 Boxster Launch

Porsche of Rancho Mirage Showcases the 718 Boxster

The excitement about the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster has not waned since the roadster’s release earlier this year, and dealerships across the nation have developed creative ways to share the new redesign with customers. On Saturday, September 24th, Porsche of Rancho Mirage hosted a gourmet breakfast to showcase the new 718 Boxster to Porsche enthusiasts in Southern California. Morning delicacies included breakfast burritos, fresh fruit, muffins, sweet cinnamon rolls, coffee, tea, and juice. The focus of the event was to demonstrate how far the Porsche brand has evolved over the years, so the group at Porsche of Rancho Mirage chose to display two historical Porsches—one from the 1950s and one from the 1960s. This side-by-side comparison between the 718 Boxster and the vintage models was striking. Not only did the team enjoy breakfast, but they also sent five employees and a large group of guests to a PCA Riverside Timeline Event at Lake Arrowhead of which Porsche of Rancho Mirage was a sponsor. The trip allowed customers to enjoy driving the Boxster and introduced the new model to those in attendance at the Lake Arrowhead event. After a long but enjoyable day with the Boxster, each guest left with a commemorative Porsche 718 journal, and the team at Porsche of Rancho Mirage is happily working with several customers who want to take home Boxsters of their own. Four Steps For Restoring Your Headlights

When driving your Porsche Cayman at night or in heavy rain, you want your headlights to give you the optimum vision that you need to navigate safely on the road. To maintain the pristine condition of your new headlights in your Porsche, check out these steps for cleaning and caring for the headlights safely and correctly. Prep your headlights simply by taking a regular household glass cleaner (like Windex) and remove any excess grime off of the headlights with a paper towel. Once the headlights are wiped dry, tape around the headlights to ensure that the car’s paint will not become damaged during the next step. Using an abrasive material such as fine 600-grit sandpaper, scuff away the outer layer of haze that forms onto the plastic due to UV rays degrading the outer layer of the plastic. To finish the job, use a fine polish such as Blue Magic 730-6 or Meguiars G-1900K to clean up the sandpaper scuffs and make the headlights clear. The condition of your headlights varies on how much sun exposure your headlights get on a day-to-day basis. If you leave your Porsche in the driveway out in the open, it is recommended to clean your headlights once every three months. If you keep your Porsche in a covered area, such as your garage, cleaning and caring for your headlights may only be needed to be done every six to eight months. If you don’t have the time to keep up with the maintenance of your headlights or would rather have a professional take care of the job, schedule a service appointment at indiGO Auto Group’s Porsche of Rancho Mirage.

Porsche Electric Drive Technology of the Future

Porsche makes innovation happen, and the company's manufacturers have worked day and night advancing technology and increasing driving dynamics. Hybrids are evolving due to Porsche’s electric drive technology. By combining combustion engines and electric motors, a more energy-efficient hybrid has been created. Dr. Stefan Weckbach, head of the BEV model series, said, “This is the best example of how plug-in hybrid drives hugely increase driving dynamics and driving pleasure with the additional power and increased torque of the electric motor.” The electric drive technology maintains Porsche's company principle of “high performance, low consumption.” The average electric car takes 14 hours to fully charge, giving a driving range of just 68 miles. Porsche has been able to create a charger and a hybrid that gives off enough power to charge the electric vehicle fully in under 30 minutes, giving it a driving range of 288 miles. Porsche's growing technology does not end there. The manufacturers are looking to go above and beyond. Simon Hess, specialist for mobility concepts and charging infrastructure, added, “In the future, charging should be fast, convenient, safe, CO2-neutral, and at optimal cost.” This is the goal of Porsche's future innovation. Eight Tips for Storing Your Porsche for the Season

If you’re going to store your Porsche for an extended amount of time, there are several precautions you should take before you simply tuck it away in your garage. Follow these simple steps to make sure your car doesn’t deteriorate while it’s stowed. Keep it inside. A climate-controlled storage facility is best, followed by a typical garage setting. Take it for a spin. To keep the engine running smoothly, take your car for a short spin around the city every few months to make sure it remains in tip-top shape. Clean it first. Before you store your car for an extended period, wash it and make sure the entire vehicle is completely dry to prevent mold or mildew buildup. Stop by the gas station. It’s best to store a car with a full tank of gas, which will remain fresh for about a year. You can couple it with a fuel stabilizer to prolong the life of the gasoline. Change the oil. Your car’s oil and filter should be changed shortly before storing. Also make sure that the vehicle has plenty of anti-freeze, power-steering fluid, transmission fluid, and brake fluid. Charge the battery. To prevent battery deterioration, fully charge it before you store your automobile. This can be done with a battery charger or simply by driving. Plus, a battery tender (sometimes called a maintainer) can be used to keep the battery charged during inactivity. Consider your tires. Tires can be covered with plastic to avoid moisture damage. Furthermore, you may want to consider lifting your car to prevent flat spotting. Call your insurance company. If you will be storing your car for months, you could save money on your car insurance by reporting to the agency that the car is not in use. These few steps will ensure that your Porsche comes out of storage looking as fantastic as the day you stowed it away. To make sure you’ve covered every base, it’s best to consult an experienced service technician. The service team at indiGO Auto Group’s Porsche of Rancho Mirage on the Desert European Motorcars Campus is always ready to help prepare your car for days of dormancy.
